As I have said other then enjoying you playing the guitar (and the production value that Lesley makes) I don't know anything about this area of tech. What I enjoy is your & your friends company! It's like sitting in the background in a bar watching a bunch of old friends enjoying each others company and I'm getting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mudita from watching you. When times have been really tough listening to you has helped me a lot. I think I have already said before how dark it can get for me and mine and I don't want to embarrass you, so I'll stop now.
I am also very aware of the difference between being a fan (me) and being one of your friends. Media/fame is incredibly isolating. There is such a huge gap between before media/fame and after, from inside the biz and outside. I have had it happen to me to a certain extent. I've watched it happen to mates who are famous authors etc. I went to a couple of famous schools: the Dragon (i was driven to school every morning with the future voice of Siri) and Dartington with kids whose parents were famous musicians e.g, Led Zep. So I saw the effect on them. So thank you for being a great friend to your friends and a good friend to me (a fan). And its nice for me, if I can help, to help.
I've gained a lot in the last 6 months meeting your community starting with Warren. But I became interested because I wanted to support an old friend of mine, as to who was good to contact re press relations. She has a side-hustle making modular synths, but who also happens to have a lot of overlap with you in terms of media/music production engineering. One of her companies was I think the first hard drive based DAW (back in the eighties), she has made numerous contributions to various industries. She invented provably correct hardware compilation for FPGA's, designed hardware/software for Nasa. She now lives in Zurich with her wife & leads a team at Google. She has been learning German for the last couple of years, so if I happen to be present when the two of you meet, and I would very much like that to happen. I really need to start learning German myself if I want to have a clue as to what you two are saying to each other...
And I also need to learn to pass the Entrance exam, because it appears I could get dual nationality given my father was born in Berlin in the '37 and whose father and grandparents were German Jews. My family is half German & back in the days when we were from our local towns and then Europeans, I was part of Chaos Computer Club. I've wanted to learn German since I was a kid, I spent a lot of holidays in (west) Germany but one can never really understand the culture unless one understands the language.
And on the off chance we ever do meet - please embarrass me by getting me to explain why I don't work in the Games Industry despite having been involved since 1982. A small clue - I turned down the equivalent to the Beatles!
Best Wishes to you and yours, you Shakespearian Fool
Hugs
Kate
